Before the Monkey Monastery...
We're back in the Dragon Realms now. Since we have the Ice Breath technique, we can now explore an entirely new area of the Dragon Realms. Remember where Dragonfly Dojo is? Well if you follow the pathway leading up to that up and around, you'll eventually come to a gate, with an Ice Lock on it. Use your Ice Breath on the lock to break it and open up the gate. Run down the path behind the gate and start gathering all of the Gems and whatnot. When the path opens up into a larger area, like a clearing, grab all of the Gems in the area as well. Don't go too far into this clearing, but bare left down a new path, grabbing more Gems as you go. This path will eventually open up into a new clearing. The clearing has two levels - the main part and then the platforms that go around the upper part of the level. First thing's first - grab the Gems around here on the main floor. Make sure to use your Bubble Breath to capture the green Dragonfly, Masa, flying around here. You'll notice to the righthand side of the area that there is a Challenge Portal. Go through this Challenge Portal to play the Ice Breath Challenge. For more information on that, please see the Challenge section of this guide. For winning that challenge, you'll be rewarded with Howie the Dragonfly.
After winning that challenge and getting all of the Gems on the ground floor there, head back down the previous pathway into the clearing. Grab whatever you missed here and head north to the large building in front of you. Flying around here is another Dragonfly, Fluffy. Capture him with your Bubble Breath, and grab the rest of the Gems in the area. Talk to the man in front of the laboratory there and he'll turn you away (we don't have enough Dragonflies yet!). But that's okay. Now, head back south and then to the clearing where we played the Ice Breath Challenge. After making sure that you got all of the Gems on the ground floor, start to take the platforms around you up and around, jumping and gliding where necessary. Leave no Gems behind as you go around, cross the bridge, and reach an icy corridor. Take this corridor up, where the final Gems in the Dragon Realms are. Grab all of the Gems around, and the "800/800" sign should appear on the screen. If not, you're missing Gems, so go look for whatever you missed! In this area as well is another green Dragonfly, Sandra. Capture it with your Bubble Breath, and then talk to the monkey standing around here. He'll offer to take you to Monkey Monastery... so take his offer, and away you go.
Monkey Monastery
As you begin this area, you'll find yourself on a solitary platform, with nothing remotely around you. Grab the Gems on your platform, and then talk to the monkey there, who will tell you about the invading forces. From there, look across to the building across the chasm. Jump towards it and glide to the safety of the area surrounding it. Here, you'll be greeted by some Woolly Mammoth enemies charging at you. Use your Flame Breath on them to kill them, and collect the Gems in the area. Step on the ice farther up in the area, grabbing Gems there as well. Flying around this area is a yellow Dragonfly named Foamy. Use your Bubble Breath on him to capture him and send him back to the Dragon Realms. After capturing him and getting all of the Gems in the first snow area, and along the ice (and make sure to kill all of the Wooly Mammoths for any Gems they may be carrying), jump off of the ice and onto the other side, even closer to the building in front of you. Walk up the various steps, collecting the Gems as you proceed, until you get to the door of the building.
We can't get into the door, but the pathway continues to your right. Walk to your right, grabbing Gems, until the pathway abruptly ends. Jump from the platform you're on to the next platform. Collect the Gems here and notice the treasure chest sitting on this platform. We don't have the proper key to open this treasure chest as of yet, so ignore for it now, and fly and glide to the next platform. This platform is made of very slippery ice, so be careful! Carefully walk around and get the Gems on the ice (letting Sparx do as much work as possible so you don't have to move). When you get all of the Gems on the icy part of the platform, work your way to the snowy part. Grab the Gems here, then jump and glide to the icy platform on the other side of the chasm. Carefully collect more Gems here, and fend off the Wooly Mammoths and Dragon Knights coming at you. Shoot them with Flame Breath and collect the Gems they drop as well. In this area, you'll have an enemy throwing Snowballs at you. These Snowball Dragons are equipped with shields as well, which block all of your breath attacks. Because of this, run at them, and charge into them to knock them over and kill them. Once the area is complete of enemies, talk to the Yeti there, and grab Butterflies from the jackrabbits in the area if Sparx needs to be healed. Then, jump across the chasm down to the next snowy cliff.
Follow these pathways up as they go up and around, grabbing Gems and killing the various enemies as you go. When you reach the top of the platform, you'll notice giant sheets of ice both to your right and left blocking your way. Kill all enemies and grab all Gems that you can up here, then turn around and look towards a tower with a snowy spiral pathway going up and around it. From where you are, jump and glide towards that tower, and walk up the spiral, grabbing Gems as you go. When you get to the top, a monkey there will tell you that you can use their "secret weapon" that they use during snowball fights to help you if need be. After getting all the Gems around the monkey, jump to the platform next to where you are, and work your way to the cannon facing the cliffs. Grab the Gems around the cannon, then jump in the cannon. There are three ice sheets we have to destroy. The one right in front of you hides a Yeti frozen in ice. Fire at the ice sheet to reveal said Yeti. Directly to the right of this is another sheet of ice blocking off the next area of the Monkey Monastery. And finally, all the way to the left is yet another ice sheet. Destroy this ice sheet, then jump off of the cannon. To the right of the cannon, you'll see a lifter. Jump onto the lifter, and glide your way towards the alcove you revealed after destroying the first ice sheet. Melt the ice cube there with your Flame Breath and talk to the Yeti you freed. Then, jump down to the platform below. Before going to your right and into the next area, walk left. Follow this pathway up as far as it goes now that there is no ice sheet blocking your path. Grab the Gems and kill any remaining enemies. When the pathway ends, look across the chasm to an upper level platform across the way, above where we were earlier when we talked to our Yeti friend. Hover across to this ice, grabbing the Gems in the area. Work your way up the solitary pathway and kill the various enemies. After grabbing all of the Gems, your primary concern is Holly, the red Dragonfly buzzing around. Use your Bubble Breath to capture her (carefully, as you're on ice!), and then jump down one level, so you're back in front of the original Yeti we talked to.
Jump across the chasm to the platform, and walk back up it. This time, go right, passing through where the other ice sheet was. Walk through the cave and come out on the other side, in a new area of the Monkey Monastery. Grab the Gems and jump across the chasm to the next icy platform. Grab the Gems there, and jump once more to another icy platform. After you clear this icy area of Gems, jump to the next platform. Grab the Gems here, and work your way over to the end. Kill the various enemies waiting for you here, refill Sparx's energy with the bunnies in the area, and then talk to the Monkey. He'll ask you to take care of the Flying Riptocs in the area. When all of the Gems are gotten in the area, and you're healed, take the lifter to the next area it leads you to. Immediately be ready to battle some foes here. Use your Flame Breath until they're all slain, grab the Gems here, and approach the cannon at the end of the area. One of the flying Riptocs is in range of this cannon. Shoot it out of the sky, break the various ice sheets you see in the distance as well, and then walk back a little bit, and onto the edge of the platform you're on. Look out into the huge open abyss before you and you'll notice a solitary little cannon sitting on a ledge down yonder. Jump and hover to this cannon. Grab the Gems on the small platform, then man the cannon. Shoot down the ice sheets you see from here, and most importantly, the two Flying Riptocs. When you jump out of the cannon after doing this, Sparx congratulates you by giving you Gaku the Dragonfly! Nice.
From here, jump back to the original platform where the lifter is. Take the lifter back up into the air, and ride it right into the cave underneath a platform we've already been on. This cave was recently opened up by you shooting an ice sheet. Within this cave is the second Yeti we have to un-thaw. Using your Flame Breath, thaw out this Yeti, talk to him, and then return back to the same platform with the lifter. Go up in front of the cannon, and jump and glide straight across the large chasm to a pathway on the other side, which is down and to the left of a large cave opening. Once here, kill the Wooly Mammoths awaiting your decent, and grab all of the Gems in the area. Ignore the portal there, it leads back to the Dragon Realms. Once the enemies are killed and the Gems collected on this platform, talk to the monkey next to the large red rocket. He'll ask you to light said rocket, so do so with your Flame Breath, and watch as it obliterates a huge sheet of ice on the other side of the chasm. Once that's done, walk down the pathway that's off of where you are now. Grab the Gems as you go up this pathway. At the end of it, look across and you'll see a cave with another frozen Yeti within. Jump and glide to this cave and unfreeze the Yeti. Take the Gems out of his cave as well, and then jump down off of the cave. You'll be back in the beginning of the Monkey Monastery region.
Walk up towards the large building here again. This time, the door's open, so go through it. Once on the other side, collect Gems and whatnot. A green Dragonfly named Damsel is around here as well, so make sure to catch it with your Bubble Breath. Grab the Gems as you go up the platform until you come to an evening-out of the area. There are some enemies for you to kill here. Slay the enemies and grab some more Gems, and then notice that you can go left or right. Both left and right have pathways going up. If you're facing away from the building you just went through, go right and up. Grab the Gems as you go, and approach the Challenge Portal there. Go through the Challenge Portal... this is the Peaceful Slide Challenge. You can win two possible Dragonflies here; Cueburt and Dancer. Once you do the Challenge and get both Dragonflies from it, work your way back to the intersection where I told you to go right to reach the Challenge Portal. This time, head the other direction. Work your way up in this direction and you'll come across Shadow, a Dragonfly who won't put up any fight before he's caught. Capture him, grab the Gems in the area, and then continue to run about. When you get to the end of the pathway, jump down, and you'll be on the platform we jumped off of earlier. DON'T jump off again, but go back to the area where we set that rocket off. This time, veer right and start to take the platforms there as they wrap around the mountain. Continue to grab Gems as you go. The last platform you get on will have more Gems and fourth of five Yetis we have to thaw out in the area. Thaw the Yeti out with your Flame Breath. Then, look out off of where you are into the distance. You'll see the far-away platform with the lifter on it. Jump and glide down to this platform.
Once you arrive there, take the lifter back up to the higher platform, and walk back to the cannon. Stand in front of the cannon, and then turn so Spyro is facing to the right (so his behind is facing the cannon). Jump off of the platform and glide. Turn in when you see a platform to your immediate right. Once on this platform, grab the Gems and the Monkey Key from the platform which opens the treasure chest from earlier on in the area. Then look out in front of you, where white platforms go across the chasm to the other side. Carefully jump from one to another until you get to the other side. Go up the steps there, grabbing the odd Gem as you go, and approach the Challenge Portal there. This is the Factory Destruction Challenge.
