Does My Crush Like Me Back? Take the Quiz and Find Out (2024)

Do you have a crush on someone but are unsure if they're into you, too? This free 12-question quiz is for anyone trying to figure that out, which, let’s admit, has been all of us at one point or another!

Those early stages of trying to discern whether or not there’s a vibe between the two of you can be both exhilarating and a little anxiety-inducing—you need to pay attention to the signals without constantly overthinking their every move.

There are so many factors to consider when you’re hoping a casual connection will turn into something more. Ideally, this quiz will give you a little more clarity about which steps to take next on your path to lasting love. Go get ‘em, tiger!

How Accurate Are These Quiz Results?

As much as we wish we could tell you this quiz was a crystal ball that could give you a definitive answer and alleviate all your dating self-doubt, it simply isn’t the case. There is no way to know for certain if someone is interested in you romantically unless you ask them directly.

That being said, this quiz will help highlight behavior patterns that can indicate whether they are more or less likely to have a crush on you. So if your results tell you they probably like you back and you wind up getting rejected, that’s OK! The same goes for if you aren’t totally sure and are pleasantly surprised by your results.

People’s feelings toward one another can’t be readily reduced to a quiz, so take these results as helpful guidance—but with a grain of salt.

Some Telltale Signs Someone Has a Crush on You

So, how do you know if someone likes you like that?

They Make an Effort

When someone likes you, they will take a little initiative. This applies to sending text messages and to planning a time to hang out. If the two of you are at a stage where you're both trying to play it cool and not come across as too interested—read: it’s dumb to play mind games while dating—someone is still going to make the first move. As long as there’s a solid back and forth and they're serving the ball as well as returning it, then there’s a good chance they are interested in you.

This rule also applies to the effort they put into their appearance. If they always show up looking fresh and smelling good to a class, or work, or a hang with you and mutual friends, then there’s a good chance there’s the potential for romantic interest.

“Someone who is interested in you—even before they might know whether it’s friendship or something more—will make time for you,” says Hannah Owens, LMSW. “If you are constantly feeling like you are the one doing the pursuing, rather than being pursued, that might be a bad sign," she explains. “But that might not always be a red flag. They might be shy or scared to reach out because they are afraid of rejection. Feel it out.”

How Micro-Flirting Can Gently Promote Connection

They Text You First

Texting habits in the early phases of dating—or while you’re figuring out if someone likes you—can be one of the hardest things to decipher, but we have a tendency to make it more difficult than it needs to be.

It really comes down to whether or not they text you first. When someone is excited to pursue a relationship, they’ll be eager to start a conversation with you. They may text you to ask about your day or your evening. They’ll send you a funny meme or invite you to their friend’s concert.

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t established whether the romance will intensify or not; a person’s texting habits can tell you a lot. We make all kinds of excuses for people’s bad texting habits, but if they aren’t texting you as much or more than you are texting them first, then they might not be that interested in pursuing something romantic with you.

Building a connection with someone is a two-way street. It's as simple as that.

They Find Reasons to Touch You

We don’t mean this creepily or inappropriately, just in sweet, subtle ways. This could be lingering a little longer when you hug goodbye, briefly grazing their hand over yours, sitting next to you on the couch, or even bumping into you on purpose.

While it all depends on how well they know you, if you sense they are looking for ways to make a little extra physical contact with you, it may indicate that they're interested in pursuing something more.

“Physical touch is an easy way to communicate that you like someone (or that they like you),” explains Owens. “Just think of it this way—would you touch someone you don’t like? No! Even a long hug or a touch on the shoulder can be very intimate and give you a clue as to the other person’s feelings.”

They Show It in Their Body Language

More subtle than how often they make physical contact with you, someone’s physical body language can tell you a lot. You can learn a lot about their subconscious feelings this way.

Do they angle their legs toward you when sitting next to you? Do they smile at you often? Do they make intentional eye contact? Do they sometimes blush when you’re talking? All of these details could point towards them having a crush!

How to Move On When They Just Aren't That Into You

Rejection sucks, and if your quiz results tell you that special someone might not be all that romantically interested in you after all, it could be time to reevaluate your feelings toward them. This can be super hard when you’ve grown attached to the idea of a possible spark igniting between the two of you, but there’s nothing sexy about forcing something that just isn’t meant to be.

Unrequited love is painful, but if there is no hope of a relationship, it’s best to try and let go as soon as possible,” Owens suggests. “Plan more time to hang out with friends or family, or put your focus into a hobby. Taking your mind off your crush will help you move on faster and leave your heart open to someone new.”

Take some space away from this person and see if you can shift your romantic feelings into feelings of friendship or neutral acquaintanceship. The disappointment of unbalanced romantic interest can be a major bummer, but there is no point in chasing someone who doesn’t want to be with you. You are so special and worthy of love; never settle for less than an enthusiastic “yes!”

How Do You Get Over Someone You Never Actually Dated?

If You're Not Sure, Don't Stress!

As we said earlier, it’s tough to know if someone likes you back for sure, and being in that state of not knowing is totally OK! If something is meant to unfold romantically between you and your crush, then it will.

If you’re feeling lovesick and overthinking it, just take a deep breath and remind yourself that the path to finding lasting love is a journey that can’t be rushed.

Be patient and give your connection time to blossom. Good things take time, and you’ll learn their true feelings for you eventually.
